Is CBD safe to take for athletes? This is a question I get asked all the time, predominantly from ex teammates, current professional footballers and other sporting professionals. The answer in short is YES, as long as you are aware what it is you are taking and there is proof to back it up.
When I started taking CBD there wasn’t a lot of education or vast information about the products on offer and one thing I was very cautious of when taking the product was if it was safe for me to take as a professional athlete.
After feeling the benefits of adding CBD to my recovery and pain management routine we wanted to create a brand and company where trust, transparency and education was a big value of ours as there is a lack of this through the industry currently.
Since 2018 WADA removed Cannabidiol (CBD) from the prohibited list it has been accepted for professional athletes to take just CBD products containing no other synthetic or natural cannabinoids:
UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) have also created an advisory note to athletes around consumption of CBD products :
We have introduced our Pro Series range specifically for professional athletes meaning they are compliant with governing bodies doping regulations. What sets us apart? We have tested every individual finished product as well as the raw material and provide batch test results for every one of our products giving the consumer full trust and transparency in what they are taking.
You always have to take your own responsibility and research when taking any product, especially in professional sport, and after such a positive impact CBD had on myself and others we are looking to see a real increase in use of CBD Performance products in professional sport.
